Mrs. Ozell Young Burges

Mrs. Ozell Young Burges, 86, passed away on August 23, 2017 at her residence, in West Point. Mrs. Zell was born on December 5, 1930, in Van Vleet, the daughter of the late William Thomas and Annie Hilma Smith Young. Mrs. Zell was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point, where she was a member of the Naomi Sunday School Class. Mrs. Zell worked as a Telephone Operator for South Central Bell for 15 years. Mrs. Zell enjoyed the Tin Lizzie Breakfast Club and being a part of the TRIAD group of Clay County. Mrs. Zell was an avid and accomplished vegetable and flower gardener and enjoyed yardwork. Mrs. Zell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Mrs. Zell married Charles Preston Burges on September 17, 1950 in West Point. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1997. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a Son-In-Law, John F. Clifton, Jr., a sister, Doris Cliett, and Three Brothers, James, Paul, Sr. and Floyd Young. Funeral services will be on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dale Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Her daughter, Cindy Burges Clifton of Katy, TX: Her son, Keith P. Burges (Regina) of Katy, TX: Five Grandchildren; Christopher A. Burges of Katy, TX, Ashley M. Burges of Bayou Vista, TX, April B. Adams (Tommy) of Katy, TX, Natalie A. Burges of Memphis, TN, and Melanie A. Burges of Katy, TX: Three Great- Grandchildren; Colton Thomas Ladd, Reagan Cole Burges, and Parker Allen Adams, all of Katy, TX: Her Sister, Pauline Wright of Meridian and Three Sisters-In-Law, Elizabeth Young of Madison, Addie Rae Young of West Point, and Jo Young of West Point. Pallbearers will be Larry Cliett, Michael Cliett, Hugh Cliett, Jim Young, Paul Young, Jr., and Jerry Howell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Naomi Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of West Point. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 794, West Point, MS 39773.
