Mrs. Shirley Faye Coleman Griffin

Mrs. Shirley Faye Coleman Griffin, 82, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle in Columbus. Shirley was born on July 29, 1936, at her home in the Craig Springs Community of Oktibbeha County, the daughter of the late Burry and Bessie Lee Eskridge Coleman. She was a 1955 graduate of Sturgis High School. After graduation, she worked as a Telephone Operator with Bell South and as a Bookkeeper at Spot Cash Tire in Starkville. She was a charter member of Riverside Baptist Church, near West Point, where she served faithfully for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and playing Skip-Bo. She married Reese Earl Griffin on August 3, 1978, in Sturgis and he passed away on June 21, 2005. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson: Kristopher Haywood, and two sisters: Carlene Elrod and Pauline Green. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 6, 2019, at 3:00 P.M.at Riverside Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Sallee officiating. Mr. Cliff Stafford will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Haywood (Harvey) of Macon: two sons, Gaylon Seawright (Tammy) of Madison, AL, and Darryl Seawright (Kathy) of Batavia, OH: five grandchildren; Joshua Seawright (Sabrina) of El Paso, TX, Jennifer Briglia (Anthony) of Huntsville, AL, Lindsay Denton (Adam) of Macon, Shaney Hilliard (Nick) of Tabatinga, Brazil, and Jamie Brooke Brown (Cody) of Macon: nine great-grandchildren; Logan and Luke Seawright of El Paso, TX, Jackson Denton of Macon, Lena Briglia of Huntsville, AL, Colt Brown of Macon, Reid Briglia of Huntsville, AL, Gabriel, Adelyn, and Caleb Hilliard of Tabatinga, Brazil; one sister, Francis Prisock of Starkville, and three brothers, Thomas Coleman (Frances) of Starkville, Grady Coleman (Klinelle) and Alfred Coleman (Peggy), both of Sturgis. Pallbearers will be Tim Horner, William Malone, Billy Harris, Cliff Stafford, Jimmy Nolan, and Chris Purnell. Honorary Pallbearers will be her Church Family at Riverside Baptist Church.
