Mrs. Ann Jolly

Mrs. Ann Jolly, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, at the age of 79. Ann was born on September 6, 1946, in Clay County, to the late Clifton and Willie Mae Earnest Thornton. Ann graduated from West Point High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Mississippi State University. She dedicated much of her professional life to the skilled trades. She worked at Babcock and Wilcox in West Point for 30 years, having spent most of her time there on the Bending Floor. Music was a profound passion for Ann. She played the French Horn with the Mississippi State University Famous Maroon Marching Band, an experience that brought her immense joy and pride. Her love for music extended into her church, Calvary Baptist Church in West Point, where she served as a fill-in Music Director from time to time, sang in the celebration choir, and directed the handbell choir. Ann's musical talents and enthusiasm left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of being under her direction. In her leisure time, Ann found comfort and delight in the classic films of Turner Classic Movies. Her earlier years were spent happily tending to her garden. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Andy Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include her husband, George Jolly of Cedar Bluff: one son, Brian Jolly of Cedar Bluff: two sisters, Nina Davis of West Point, and Mary Cliff Ware of Cumberland: one sister-in-law, Sherrye Henson (Bill), of Pontotoc, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
