Mr. Arthur Parker

Mr. Arthur Parker, 79, passed away on May 31, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Mr. Arthur Parker was born January 4, 1945, in Aberdeen, the son of the late James Arthur and Frances Lucille McKenzie Parker. Mr. Arthur enjoyed fishing, woodworking, vegetable gardening, and watching college sports. He worked for 40 years in the Tool and Die and Maintenance Department at Flexible Flyer in West Point. He was a loyal and faithful member of Enon Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Arthur was an accomplished "Bass" singer that could often be seen and heard singing with several quartets, including that of which was that of his brothers. He married Mrs. Louise Brand on August 15, 1964, in Pheba. Mr. Arthur was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and friend. In addition to his parents, Mr. Arthur was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Abbott; two sisters, Ruby Stafford and Martha Hulsey; and by two brothers, Dr. James and Eugene Parker. Visitation will be Sunday 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home and again Monday, June 3, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Dendy and Brother Ed Knox officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery near Montpelier, MS. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include His Wife Louise Parker of Cedar Bluff; one son, Reverend John Allen Parker (Nina) of West Point; Son-in-Law: Clifton Abbott of Mantee; four grandchildren, C. J., Hannah, and Gracee Abbott, all of Mantee and Lily Morris of West Point; Sister-in-Law: Sharon Parker of Vernon, Alabama; three brothers, Dr. Aaron Parker (Jeannie) of Laurel, David Parker of D'Lo, and Hubert Parker (Becky) of Prentiss; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Willie Lofton, Maverick Eaton, C.J. Abbott, Kenneth Dill, Andy Moore, and Charles Elliott. Honorary Pallbearers will be His Many Friends in Clay County, Brother Charles White, Brother John Tollison, Roger Brand, Raymond Pumphrey, Scott Harrington, Jimmy Morris, Charles Poindexter, and John Hazzard.
