Mr. Gary Lawrence Sawtelle

Mr. Gary Lawrence Sawtelle, 75, passed away on January 19, 2016, at his residence in West Point. Mr. Gary was born June 28, 1940, in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of the late George Bryan and Florence Harriett Wright Sawtelle. He was a "B" Fitter and Welder for Babcock and Wilcox Company in West Point for 30 years. He was a member of First Christian Church. He married Mary Sue Sawtelle on January 7, 1981, in West Point. Mr. Gary was an avid fisherman that did a lot of tournament fishing. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Music. He was an avid saxophone player. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Infant Son: Mark Christian Sawtelle; brother: Daniel Wayne Sawtelle; sister-in-law: Betty Sawtelle; and Daughter-in-Law: Vickie Chism Wilson. Funeral services will be Friday, January 22, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kirby Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Wife Mary Sue Sawtelle of West Point; Two Daughters, Lorie Thompson (Mike) of Tupelo and Michelle Carter of West Point; Four Sons, George Sawtelle (Teri) of West Point, Charles Timothy Wilson (Deborah) of Houston, Thomas Mark Wilson (Barbara) of Houston, and Joseph Darrell Wilson of West Point; Ten Grandchildren: Eric Wilson, Felicia Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Elizabeth Wilson, Amber Wilson, Mark Sawtelle, Amy Sawtelle Fondren (Chris), Dillon Sawtelle, Gentry Thompson, and Faith Sawtelle; and Two Great Grandsons: Hunter and Silas Sawtelle; One Sister, Martha Carr (Albert) of Aurora, OH; and Two Brothers, Gerald Sawtelle of Delavan, WI and Richard George Sawtelle (Sharon) of Sanger, CA. Pallbearers will be Dillon Sawtelle, Mark Sawtelle, Tyler Wilson, Gentry Thompson, Jon Shaw, Jr., Zane Parker, III, and Eric Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gene Brown, Eddie Armstrong, Jr., Terry Burns, Bobby Gaskin, Charles Lippincott, George Knox, Dr. Andrew Wartak, Nurses and Staff North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo, and the Mens 99 Bible Class at First Christian Church in West Point.
