Mr. Howard "Mahlon" Geer

Mr. Howard Mahlon Geer, 70, passed away on March 20, 2025, at his home in Pickensville, Alabama. Mahlon was born on May 25, 1954, in Columbus, to the late Murris Hinton and Annie Sue Lollar Geer. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Lebanon Crisis. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Science from the Mississippi University for Women. He worked as the Director of Safety and Security for Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for 25 years. He was an avid hunter and loved reloading ammunition. He collected knives and thoroughly enjoyed working in his shop, especially doing leather work. He married Terry Ballard Geer on July 3, 1993, in Louisville. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Geer. Visitation will be Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Stanley Ballard officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Terry Ballard Geer of Pickensville, Alabama; his five boys, Kiley Moody (Kate) of Brandon, Chad Moody (Hope) of Columbus, Philip Geer of Rural Valley, Pennsylvania, Jeffery Moody (Roxanne) of Columbus, and Jesse Geer (Paige) of Meridianville, Alabama; ten grandchildren, Brayden Moody (Savannah) of Oxford, George Henry Moody of Brandon, Lucy Kate Moody of Brandon, Dalton Moody of Columbus, Conerly Moody of Columbus, Hayes Moody of Columbus, Dean Mahlon Geer of Rural Valley, Pennsylvania, Stinson Moody of Columbus, Joel Geer of Meridianville, Alabama, and Theo Geer of Meridianville, Alabama: one great-grandson, Drake Carr of Columbus: one sister, Debbie Mangolas (Art) of Richmond, Virginia: two sisters-in-law, Karen Cockrell of Starkville and Yvonne Geer of Columbus: one brother-in-law, Richard Ballard (Beverly) of Louisville, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Pallbearers will be Dalton Moody, Brayden Moody, Hayes Moody, Justin Cockrell, Luke Ballard, and Robert Pack. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O.
