Mr. Jesse Lee Dawson

Mr. Jesse Lee Dawson, 72, passed away on August 19, 2024, at his Home in Starkville. Mr. Jesse was born June 3, 1952, in Tupelo, the son of the late William H. and Geneva George Dawson. He was a 1970 Graduate of Okolona High School in Okolona, Mississippi. He was a veteran of the United States Army. After having served in the United States Army, he enrolled at Mississippi State University, graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business. He was a rural route mail carrier for the United States Post Office for 20 years. Mr. Jesse enjoyed music and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed reading, playing pool, and caring for his animals. He married Ann Simmons on October 3, 1987, in West Point. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. Of all of the accomplishments that he had, he enjoyed being "Papa Jesse" and "Granddaddy" to his family. Jesse was a member of Okolona Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Dawson. Visitation will be Friday 9:00-11:00 A.M. at Calvert Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 11:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charlie Simmons officiating and assisted by Reverend Theron Harris. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery near Montpelier. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include His Wife Ann Dawson of Starkville; four sons, Eric Dawson (Evans) of Columbus, Charlie Dawson (Monica) of Oxford, Taylor Dawson of Starkville, and Jason Robertson (Renee) of La Mesa, California; ten grandchildren, Ellie Dawson of Columbus, Arthur Dawson of Columbus, Mia Dawson of Oxford, Jesse Dawson of Oxford, Hazel Dawson of Oxford, Cecil Robertson of Alma, Georgia, Riley Robertson of Alma, Georgia, Jayden Robertson of La Mesa, California, Michael Robertson of La Mesa, California, and Anna Robertson of La Mesa, California; one brother, Bill Dawson (Ann) of Charlotte, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law: Rev. Charlie Simmons (Frances) of Starkville and George Simmons (Judy) of West Point, and a number of Nieces and Nephews. Pallbearers will be Arthur Dawson, Jesse Dawson, Cecil Robertson, Michael Robertson, Grant Fretz, and Blake Fretz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nurses and Staff of Spring Valley Hospice in Tupelo.
