Mrs. Joyce Elizabeth Yeatman

Mrs. Joyce Elizabeth (Armstrong) Yeatman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the loving home of her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Linda Yeatman, in Pheba, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 1, 1941, in French Camp, to the late Ezra Armstrong and Flora B. Gaskin. Joyce leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family. During her life, Joyce was a dedicated homemaker and mother. She worked at Garan Manufacturing for many years. In 1969, she stopped working in the outside work force and began focusing on raising her children. She also opened her home to newborn babies, providing them with warmth and comfort in their earliest days. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own family, as she treated her extended family and friends as her own, always holding them close to her heart. Joyce’s love for her family was evident in everything she did. She cherished her role as a mother to her daughter Karen Burkhart (Terry), and her sons, Darrel Yeatman (DeeDee) and Kevin “Jelly” Yeatman (Linda). Her grandchildren, Mary Soriano (Jon), Hunter Yeatman, Logan Yeatman (Hannah), Gage Yeatman, and Grant Yeatman, as well as her great-granddaughter, Madelyn Yeatman, brought immense joy to her life. In addition to her immediate family, Joyce is survived by her brothers, Coy Gaskin (Gertrude), Jerry Gaskin (Regina), sister, Doris Sagely (Roy), and nephews, Dewayne Sagely (Rosie), John Gaskin (Megan), Tracey Collum, Chris Gaskin (Lee), Kim Travis (Owen), and Jason Gaskin (Kiah), including Pat Blair, Rhonda Blair, and Addy Blair, whom she considered as her own family. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends whom she cherished deeply. Joyce’s interests in cooking, sewing, reading, and caring for her loved ones were a reflection of her nurturing and compassionate nature. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and delicious aromas from her kitchen, where she lovingly prepared meals for her family. In the loving memory of Mrs. Joyce Elizabeth Yeatman, may her legacy of love, strength, and compassion live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She is now reunited in Heaven with her late husband, Harrell Eugene Yeatman, her parents, Ezra Armstrong and Flora Bean, her brother, James Armstrong, and nieces, Sheila Armstrong and Dana Armstrong. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. A service to celebrate Joyce’s life will follow at 1:00 from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Garden Park in Starkville. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Pallbearers will be Darrel Yeatman, Kevin Yeatman, Terry Burkhart, Hunter Yeatman, Grant Yeatman, and Gage Yeatman. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Jewell J. Huffman and his staff at Eupora Medical Clinic in Eupora, the Home Health team in Starkville and Baptist Hospice in Columbus, for their exceptional care and support during Joyce’s challenging times.
