Mr. Marion "Mack" Hodnett

Mr. Marion "Mack" Hodnett, 75, passed away on December 27, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Mr. Mack was born January 29, 1940, in the Big Springs Community of Clay County, the son of the late Herman DeWitt and Orene Andrews Hodnett. He was a member of West End Baptist Church in West Point. He was a knife sharpener at Bryan Foods in West Point for 30 years. He served the United States Army for six years during the Cold War. He then served the Mississippi Army National Guard for 25 years, for a combined total of 31 years of military service to our country. He was a member of the West Point American Legion. Mr. Mack married Judy Wilson on January 10, 1964, in West Point. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed genealogy, flowers, and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Chris Hodnett; Sister: Dena Hodnett Coggins; Two Brothers: Floyd Rosco and DeWitt Andrews Hodnett. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 31, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Alvis Warren officiating and assisted by Mr. Billy Parker. Burial will follow in Palestine United Methodist Church Cemetery near Montpelier. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Wife Judy A. Hodnett of West Point; Three Sons, Robert Hodnett of Redding, CA, Tommy Hodnett (Tina) of Clarksville, TN, and Christopher Hodnett (Joy) of West Point; Seven Grandchildren: Bryson Hodnett, Isaiah Hodnett, Chase Austin, Zoe Boudousquie, Connor Boudousquie, Cydnee McCloud, and Sean McCloud; Two Sisters, Rena Hodnett Breland (Dale) of Tupelo and Sarah Hodnett Golson (Jack) of West Point; Special Friend: Lee Ann W. Turk (Darwin) of Columbus. Pallbearers will be Daniel Bodry, John Blankenship, Mickey Blankenship, Dan Arnold, Ray Weed, Larry Jennings, Jeremy Jennings, Andy Lee, Chase Austin, and Darwin Turk. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Golson, Danny Wayne Williams, Tommy Davies, Ricky Warren, Milton Kendrick, Dr. Andrew Wartak, Dr. William Brohawn, Mississippi Army National Guard 223rd Engineering Battalion based in West Point, Nurses and Staff North Mississippi Medical Center both in West Point and Tupelo, Nurses and Staff of Rush Specialty Hospital in Meridian, and the Nurses and Staff of North Mississippi Medical Center Home Health Care.
