Melanie Snow Decker

Melanie Snow Decker was born on February 20, 1955, in Philadelphia, to the late Robert and Donna Snow. After graduation, Melanie pursued her music career here in Mississippi. After moving to Nashville in 1981, Melanie formed a band named The Harvest River Band and played national and international circuits until her mother passed away in 1991. She then continued her mother’s work in the family business. When her father passed away in 2017, Melanie moved to a quiet place near her sister. She continued to take care of her family and delight everyone with her beautiful spirit and loving acts. Throughout her life, Melanie received many accolades and awards for her public appearances and speeches to many organizations on the history of her beautiful home, Waverley Mansion. Melanie was a shining light in the lives of her family, and everyone she crossed paths with was charmed by her. Her journey through this life was marked by love, kindness, compassion, and her strong faith in God and the Catholic church. Melanie would give you her last dollar if she thought you needed it. We ask that you remember Melanie by the joy she brought to her family, and by the profound impact she made on those who were fortunate to know her. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 6:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery. Melanie will be laid to rest by her sweet son at 6:00 PM. with Mr. Mark Stafford delivering special remarks. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. May her sweet soul rest in peace. Melanie is survived by her loving sister, Cindy Henson (Ronnie), younger brother, Gage Snow, and brother, Allen Snow (Elin). She also leaves behind a nephew, Shannon Blackwell (her BooBoo), a niece, Melanie Monaghan (Mark), three great-nieces, Savannah Blackwell, Maggie Monaghan, and Milla Monaghan, two great-nephews, Cody Blackwell (Haley) and Ben Blackwell, and one great-great nephew, Kaden Blackwell. In addition to her parents, Melanie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert Wayne Decker, Jr. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Henson, Shannon Blackwell, Mark Monaghan, Donnie Henson, Mark Stafford, and Chad Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be her loving nieces and nephews, her many friends that she played music with, and West Point High School Class of 1973.
