Pamela "Pam" C. Ivey

Pamela (Pam) Cummings Ivey passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, after a brief illness. She was greeted in heaven by her loving parents, beloved sister, brother, and sweet nephew. Pamela Mae Cummings was born on February 8, 1952, in Ruleville, to J.W. and Opal Watkins Cummings and the family soon moved to West Point. Pam and family were faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church. At an early age, Pam developed a love for music and began playing the trombone. She graduated from and was a member of the West Point High School band and often played for her church. She later joined the ranks of the ‘Pride of the South’ Marching Band. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education from Ole Miss. She began her career as a Junior High Band Director at schools in Louisiana and Mississippi. She finished her career with the Water Valley School System. Pam was a past member of the Mississippi Band Masters Association and the Tupelo Symphony Orchestra. She was an active member and long-standing chorister of North Oxford Baptist Church. Pam was preceded in death by parents, J.W. and Opal Watkins Cummings; sister, Suzanne Cummings McIntire; brother, Gary Cummings; nephew, Warren Cummings, and grandparents Rufus Cleveland and Mae Cummings and Thomas Henry and Sallie Watkins. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 9:00-10:00 A.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 10 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. She is survived by brothers, Terry and Myron (Nieda) Cummings; brother-in-law, Edd McIntire; nieces and nephews Courtney (Leff) Robbins, Marcus (Kayci) McIntire, Holly McIntire, Cecily Cummings, and Myron, Jr. (Sarah) Cummings, grandnieces and nephews, Owen and Noah Robbins; Neely and Gavin (Gabby) McIntire; Mirabella Mucha; and Trey, Kylie, Beau, Eli, Jackson, and Cory Lynn Cummings; and great-grandnephew, Gian McIntire. Pam also leaves behind her lifelong and dear friend Keron Cook Mills. She is also survived by her trusted friend Betty Harness. She cherished her relationships with family and friends and held a special love for her church family. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
