Mrs. Peggy Taylor Mizell

Mrs. Peggy Taylor Mizell, 82, passed away on July 8, 2024, at her home in West Point. Peggy was born on July 25, 1942, in West Point, to the late Robert Clifton and Eloise McKee Wooten. She worked many years as a chlld care worker at First United Methodist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. In her high school days, she was a phenomenal basketball player. She enjoyed camping, and being outdoors, especially flower gardening. She loved making "Coke" floats with her grandson, Taylor. She loved life and never met a stranger. Everyone loved Mrs. Peggy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Taylor, a son, Tommy Taylor, and a brother, Billy Wooten. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ben McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Old Cumberland Cemetery in Cumberland. Survivors include her husband, Lavert Mizell of West Point: four daughters, Ashley Copeland (James) of West Point, Lynn Clower (Chris) of Interlachen, Florida, Christal Mizell of Bogalusa, Louisiana, and Rachel Dillon (Wayne) of Bogalusa, Louisiana: five sons, Phil Taylor (Debra) of Conroe, Texas, Robert Taylor (Maureen) of Hoover, Alabama, Michael Mizell (Jennifer) of St. Amant, Louisiana, Joey Mizzell (Casie) of Lexington, Kentucky, and Nicholas Mizell (Maci) of Franklinton, Louisiana: eighteen grandchildren: nineteen great-grandchildren: three sisters, Dot Dazet of Madison, Sandra Morgan (Dennis) of Sparta, and Sherry Thomas (Jimmy) of Ethelsville, Alabama: three brothers, Herbert Wooten (Brenda) of West Point, Scotty Wooten (Ruth) of Montpelier, and Randy Wooten (Kathy) of West Point: three sisters-in-Law, Barbara Wooten of Cedar Bluff, and Verda Lea Dillon (Denny) and Evelyn Polk, both of Bogalusa, Louisiana, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Pallbearers will be T. C. Wooten, Toby Wooten, Yancy Wooten, Josh Weems, Allen Morgan, Rob Wooten, Alex Taylor, Travis Taylor, and David Phelps. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nurses and Staff of Legacy Hospice, Mary Lucas, Railey Greene, Steffanie Ellis, Lauren Fulgham, and Brittany Murphy, and the Nurses and Staff of Dugan Memorial Home.
