Mr. James "Snapper, Coach" Williamson

Mr. James "Snapper, Coach" Williamson, 69, passed away on July 23, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. James was born on April 29, 1949, in Minter City, the son of the late Johnny and Eula Hickman Williamson. James was a member of the Class of 1967 of Leflore County High School in Greenwood. He then attended Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead. He went on to further his education at Delta State University in Cleveland, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He retired from West Clay High School, after 27.5 years, where he was a teacher, coach, and bus driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and talking on his Ham and C.B. Radio, where his radio handle was "Snapper." He enjoyed a good "tall tale" and loved to play Bingo. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Williamson. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 26, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at Palestine United Methodist Church in Montpelier with Reverend Eddie Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine United Methodist Church Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include his three daughters, Katia Williamson, Lisa Lee (Shawn), and Pam Fox (Chris), all of West Point: one son, Brad Williamson (Laura) of Cedar Bluff; Eight grandchildren; Abigail Cliett, Jarrod Williamson, Stephen Williamson, Christopher Lee, April Lee, Kendall Fox, Peyton Fox, all of West Point and Layla Williamson of Cedar Bluff: one sister, Belinda Switzer (Jimmy) of Hattiesburg: one brother, Charles Williamson (Peggy) of Greenwood and a sister-in-law: Joyce Williamson of Greenwood. Pallbearers will be Shawn Lee, Anthony Williamson, Chris Fox, Stanley Lee, Johnny Seitz, Brian Griggs, Christopher Lee, and Curt Kisner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the CCU at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Jackie Russell, Robert Hodge, Tim Cook, Jimmy Switzer, and Finis Wright.
