Mrs. Sue Clanton

Mrs. Sue Clanton, 76, passed away on October 24, 2019, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Mrs. Martha Sue Clanton was born January 1, 1943, in West Point, the daughter of the late Aaron, Sr. and Fannie Elizabeth "Lib" Doster Blansett. Mrs. Sue was a longtime secretary for Dr. Harland Sears Optometry in West Point. She enjoyed flower gardening and cooking for her family and friends. She loved people, and loved nothing more than getting a good "prank" over on someone. She was a member of Pheba Baptist Church. She married Charles T. Clanton on May 20, 1959, in Clay County, and they were married for 60 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sue was preceded in death by her son: Wade Clanton and by three brothers: Aaron Blansett, Jr., Harvey Joe Blansett, and Jerry Wayne Blansett. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 26, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. from Pheba Baptist Church with Reverend Terry Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery near Pheba. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include Her Husband of 60 years: Charles T. Clanton of Cedar Bluff; daughter, Kathy Watkins of Cedar Bluff; Daughter-in-Law: Teresa Clanton of Vardaman; Two Grandchildren; Beth Clanton (Johnanthan) of Houlka and Jacob Clanton of Vardaman; One Great Grandson: Bryson Fuller of Houlka; Two Sisters, Judy Simmons (George) of West Point and Kate Wilcox (Charles) of Maben; Sister-in-Law: Linda Clanton of Salt Lake City, UT; Two Brothers-in-Law: James Clanton of Salt Lake City, UT and Robert Clanton of Portland, OR and a number of Nieces and Nephews. Pallbearers will be Andrew Taylor, Walt Simmons, Shank Phelps, Matthew Sears, Doug Bishop, and Jimmy Crowson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Bell, Dr. Harland Sears, Dr. Andrew Wartak, Her Many Friends in the Waddell Community, Her Many Friends at Pheba Baptist Church, Nurses and Staff North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point, and the Nurses and Staff North Mississippi Medical Center-Hospice.
