Mrs. Sue Mullen Williams

Mrs. Sue Mullen Williams passed away at the age of 89 on March 21, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle, with her family by her side. She was born on August 27, 1928, in Grenada County, as the sixth of seven children to Susie Clark and Amsie Wilson Mullen. After graduation from Holcomb High School, she attended Draughan's Business School in Jackson. She then began working for Otis Elevator Company in Jackson. It was during this time that she met Jack Williams through one of her best friends, Polly Jennings Egger. The couple married on January 28, 1956. She also worked for the City of West Point until her retirement in 1991. She was a faithful member of Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church where she served on various committees. She was considered to be a true, Southern lady. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Jack Williams; three brothers, Louis, Hal and Oliver Mullen; two sisters, Evelyn Frederick and Grace Harris. Survivors are two sons: Andy Williams of West Point, Gil Williams of Starkville: one daughter, Cindy May (Rick) of Alabaster, AL; two grandchildren: Katie May of Hoover, AL and Sam May of Alabaster, AL; one brother, George Mullen, Sr. of Grenada and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Raleigh Richter officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 23, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Cedar Bluff. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are George Mullen, Jr., George Williams, Mike Mullen, Carl Shirley, Kent Watson, Steve Harpole, and Phillip McCarter. Honorary Pallbearers are Oliver Lee Watson, Jimmy Donahoo, Ed Lyon, Jimmy Charles, Byron Acker, Kenny Dill, Billy Buck Staggers, Dr. Andrew Wartak and the Staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle.
