Mr. Ubes Pittman May, Jr.

Mr. Ubes Pittman May Jr., of West Point, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. He was born on April 7, 1930, in Calhoun County, to the late Ubes Pittman May Sr. and Alma Foster May. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. May served his country during the Korean War. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career with Babcock and Wilcox before retiring. He was a devoted member of West End Baptist Church in West Point for 73 years and served as an active deacon for 60 years. On February 26, 1954, he married the love of his life, Janice Thomas. Together they shared 71 years of marriage filled with love and devotion. Mr. May’s life was marked by service to his country, dedication to his faith, his community, and deep love for his family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 9:00-10:00 A.M. at West End Baptist Church in West Point. A Memorial Service will follow at 10:00 A.M. with Dr. James Towery officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. May; daughter, Kathy Marshall (Jim) of West Point; son, Keith May of Starkville; grandchildren, Jana Haggard (Rick) of Mooreville, Lisa Read (Josh) of Columbus, Brittany Mayo (Ethan) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mark Huffman of West Point, Jimmy Marshall (Heather) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Jared Marshall (Rachel) of Dayton, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Alex Haggard, Hadley Read, Callie Marshall, Ava Haggard, Lexi Read, Jolyn Marshall, and Jacob Marshall; brother Adrian May; sisters-in-law, Betty May and Linda May; brother-in-law, Glenn Thomas (Betty); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Heather May Catchings; daughter-in-law, Myra May; son-in-law, Roger Huffman; sisters, Katherine Dill, Mary Ellen Byrd, and Ophelia Young; and brothers, William May, Eugene May, and Cecil May.
