Mr. Andrew Eugene Fowler

July 27, 1939 - December 14, 2018

Mr. Gene Fowler, 79, passed away on December 14, 2018, at his Daughter's Home in Birmingham, AL. Mr. Gene was born July 27, 1939, in West Point, the son of the late John Edward and Mary Jane Otts Fowler. Mr. Gene was a retired mill foreman with Seitz Lumber Company in West Point. He, then, worked and retired as a maintenance worker at Artex International in West Point. He was a member of First Christian Church in West Point, where he was an Elder. He later attended Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Gene had a servant's heart. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, studying genealogy, and communicating with his "Ham" radio. He was an avid and accomplished woodworker. Mr. Gene was an United States Navy Veteran. He married Ruth Taylor on May 6, 1961, in West Point. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gene was preceded in death by his daughter: Debbie Partin; One Sister: Johnette Etheridge; and Two Brothers: James and Roy Fowler. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery officiating and assisted by Reverend Roy Myers. Burial with United States Military Honors will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include His Wife: Ruth Taylor Fowler of West Point; Daughter, Angie Gray (George) of Birmingham, AL; Three Grandchildren: Lynn Robertson of Columbus, Drew Partin of St. George, UT, and Chris Partin of Tupelo; Two Great Grandchildren: Anna and David Robertson both of Columbus; Son-in-Law: Wesley Partin (Kristen) of Tupelo; Brother: Joe F. Fowler (Janice) of West Point; two Sisters-in-Law: Maudine Fowler of West Point and Peggy Griffin of Mobile, AL; three Brothers-in-Law: Jim Etheridge of Laurel, Benny Taylor (Barbara) of West Point and Willie Taylor (Dottie) of Denham Springs, LA; Special Niece: Diane Ratkey of Mobile, AL and other Numerous Nieces and Nephews; and Special Neighbor: Mrs. Peggy White of West Point. Pallbearers will be Dale Hamlin, George Jolly, Billy Scruggs, Mike Smith, Jake Terry, Josh Coleman, Craig Ratkey, Steve McBrayer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Wray, Ricky Cole, Hester Smith, Richard Moore, Burt Nix, Art Nolan, Bobby Wooten, Tony Cates, The Fellowship Sunday School Class at Calvary Baptist Church, ROMEO Club, Nurses and Staff North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point, and the Staff of North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point Auxiliary. Memorials may be made to Charity of Donor's Choice Visitation will be Wednesday 12:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home. Friends may leave an online condolence at www.calvertfuneralhome.com
