Mr. Charlie Acker

March 15, 1935 - November 11, 2014

Mr. Charlie Acker, 79, passed away on November 11, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Mr. Charlie was born March 15, 1935, in Eupora, the son of the late Gardner and Hazel Burton Acker. He was a retired "A" Fitter at Babcock and Wilcox Corporation, retiring after 40 years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in West Point. He was an United States Army Veteran. He married Helen White on July 1, 1961, in West Point. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one Sister: Bertha Steverson and by one Brother: William Acker. Funeral services will be November 13, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include His Wife Helen White Acker of West Point; One Daughter, Susan Lucas (Larry) of Saltillo; Two Sons, Byron Acker (Sherry) of Cedar Bluff and Donald Acker (Beth) of Saltillo; Four Grandsons and One Granddaughter; Two Great Grandchildren; One Sister, Rubye Martin (George) of Pearl and One Brother, Henry Acker of West Point. Pallbearers will be Luke Lummus, David Lummus, Bob Lummus, Keith White, Samuel Lucas, Mark Acker, Corey Acker, and Kevin Acker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fellow Members of Trinity Baptist Church and the Past Employees Babcock & Wilcox Corporation. Visitation will be Thursday 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home.
