Mr. Charlie Ivy "C. I." Weems

March 28, 1926 - February 1, 2022

Mr. Charlie Ivy “C. I.” Weems, 95, passed away on February 1, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora. Mr. C. I. was born on March 28, 1926, in Zama, to the late Charlie and Eloma Weems. He worked as a welder for Babcock and Wilcox for 32 years, where he was known as "Big Daddy." He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He attended the College World Series in Omaha on a regular basis. He was an avid Mississippi State baseball fan. When there was a sporting event on, you didn't get between him and the television. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and playing bingo. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He married Willie Vee Nabors Weems on August 2, 1953 in Houston. She predeceased him on June 3, 2006. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Eloma and Joseph L. Ruffins, his father, Charlie Weems, his wife, Willie Vee Weems, a daughter, Wilma Lee Brasher and a brother, Charlie C. Weems. Visitation will be Monday, February 7, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Grove Cemetery in Houston. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Ann Blackwell (Mike) of Mathiston: two sons, Charles Weems (Cheryl) and Wallace Weems (Alisa), both of West Point: ten grandchildren; Charles Allen Foster, Heather Dawn Herring, Joshua Lee Weems (Jessica), Brittnie Nicole Trehern (Derrick), Ben Z. Weems, Molly Weems, Ryan Blackwell, Billie Ann Brasher, Matthew Gaskin, and Lindsey Henderson (Chad) and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ben Weems, Josh Weems, Ryan Blackwell, Charles Allen Foster, Derrick Trehern, and Allen Morgan. Memorials may be made to Arbor Grove Cemetery Fund, 883 CR 93, Houston, MS 38851.
