Mr. Earley Smith "Slick" Foster

Mr. Earley Smith "Slick" Foster, 87, passed away on April 19, 2015, at Waverly Care Home in West Point. Mr. Earley was born on September 8, 1927, in Chickasaw County, the son of the late Earley Quincey and Evelyn Smith Foster. He was an United States Navy Veteran of World War II.. He was a member of Pheba Baptist Church. He was an "A" Fitter Welder at Babcock and Wilcox for 30 years. He was an avid and accomplished gardener and shared the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He enjoyed work. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He loved his grandkids. He married Betty Jo Harpole on May 29, 1951, in West Point and she passed away June 30, 2012. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister: Louise Millsaps; and by Two Brothers: James and David Hearne Foster. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Terry Rhodes officiating and assisted by Reverend Jason Middleton. Burial will follow in Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Cedar Bluff. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include His Daughter, Kay Foster Baird (Tim); His son, Myron Foster (Linda) both of West Point; Four Grandchildren: Tona Fulton (Jimmy) of Biloxi, Tennille Baird Portera (Phillip) of West Point, Whitt Foster (Kayla) of West Point, and Mallorie Baird (Trevor Gore) of Starkville; Eight Great Grandchildren: Lindsey Fulton, Avery Fulton, James Fulton, Emerie Caroline Fulton, Foster Portera, P.J. Portera, Carson Foster, Lilah Claire Foster; One Brother, Gid Foster (Valinda) of Pheba; and his Sister-in-Law: Anna Sims of Cedar Bluff. Pallbearers will be Aubrey Foster, Jeff Foster, Will Foster, Scott Foster, Wayne Foster, and Craig Foster. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenny Tipton, Sonny Sizemore, Eddie Strickland, Hiram Millsaps, Bobby Champion, David Foster, Robert Champion, Warren Sizemore, Tim Sizemore, Butch Childs, Butch Boykin, Friends in the Pheba Community, Nurses & Staff of Community Hospice, Nurses and Staff of North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, Dr. Edmund Miller, Jr., Nurses and Staff of Waverly Care Home and Dugan Memorial Home, and the North Mississippi Medical Center Home Health Care. Memorials may be made to Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery, C/O Mrs. Anna Sims, 911 Henryville Road, Cedar Bluff, MS 39741.
