Mrs. Edra Gaye Dendy

June 5, 1943 - October 2, 2016

Mrs. Edra Gaye Dendy, 73, passed away on October 2, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Mrs. Edra Gaye Dendy was born June 5, 1943, in the Cairo Community of Clay County, the daughter of the late Ben and Annie B. Young Edwards. She retired after 30 years as the office manager of Bryan Foods in West Point. She was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point. She married Marion E. "Punk" Dendy on August 11, 1962, in the Cairo Community of Clay County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Three Sisters: Catherine Thompson, Nellene Davis, and Irene Ayres, and by One Brother: Marion "Shine" Edwards. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at 3:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Danny Avery officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Her Husband: Marion E. "Punk" Dendy of West Point; Two Daughters, Tania Garrard (Tony) of Olive Branch and Teresa Knighton (Morris) of Cedar Bluff; One Grandson: Colin Garrard of Olive Branch and One Granddaughter and Her Caregiver: Amanda Knighton of West Point; and One Great Grandson: Luke Knighton of West Point. Pallbearers will be Colin Garrard, Robert Smith, Lamar Dendy, Lonnie Brand, Charlie Newell, and Terry Chrismond. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nurses and Staff of North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation, 196 Charmant Drive; Suite 4, Ridgeland, MS 39157. Visitation will be Monday 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home. Friends may leave an online condolence at www.calvertfuneralhome.com
