Mrs. Elizabeth "Liz" Taylor Raines

November 24, 1938 - October 29, 2015

Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor "Liz" Raines, 76, passed away on October 29, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mrs. Liz was born November 24, 1938, in New Albany, the daughter of the late Chester Ray and Juanita Hudspeth Taylor. She was the Office Manager and Secretary for the Mississippi State Board of Health in West Point for 38 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Character Builders Sunday School Class and a longtime Sunday School Secretary. Mrs. Liz loved to read and work crossword puzzles. She loved her animals and especially her beloved canine companion Lacy. She loved Gospel music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Joseph Michael "Joey" Raines. Funeral services will be Monday, November 2, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in Glenfield Memorial Park Cemetery in New Albany at 2:00 P.M. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Her Daughter, Connie Karg (Randy) of Columbus; Her Two Sons, David Raines (Jan) of Maben and Tim Raines (Betsy) of Jackson, TN; Daughter-in-Law: Shannon "Nicki" Raines of Cedar Bluff; Seven Grandchildren and Ten Great Grandchildren and her beloved Canine Companion: Lacy. Pallbearers will be Robert Karg, Brian Karg, Michael Buchanan, Chris Raines, Charles Raines, Stephen Raines, Ronnie Karg, and Scotty Reed. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ervin Morgan, Friends at Bryan Public Library, and the Character Builders Sunday School Class Calvary Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Renovation Fund, 460 McCord Street, West Point, MS 39773. Visitation will be Sunday 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home.
