Mr. Ellis Monroe Poss

Mr. Ellis Monroe Poss, 79, passed away on December 26, 2015, at the Mississippi State Veteran's Home in Kosciusko. Mr. Ellis was born February 20, 1936, in Monroe County, the son of the late John Ed and Vera Barnes Poss, Sr. He was an United States Army Veteran of the Berlin Crisis. He then served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. He worked at Bryan Foods for 20 years. He then owned and operated Poss Construction, where he built and repaired homes. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his Brother: Coleman Poss. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 31, 2015, at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Doster officiating and assisted by Mr. Bud Bowen. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Una. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include His Three Daughters, Susan Jones, Jennifer Poss, and Pam Ware; One Son, Michael Poss all of West Point; Seven Grandchildren; Ashley Poss, Corey Poss, Hannah Poss, Magean Poss, Olivia Poss, Jordan Ware, and Camryn Ware; Seven Great Grandchildren; His Two Sisters, Carolyn Crowley (Charlie) of Prairie and Barbara Humber (Steve) of West Point; and One Brother John Ed Poss, Jr. (Chris) of Ocean Springs; and the Mother of His Children: Peggy J. Parker of West Point. Pallbearers will be Michael Poss, Corey Poss, Ashley Poss, Carson Poss, Jordan Ware, and George Sawtelle. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his Former Co-Workers at Bryan Foods, the Nurses and Staff of the Mississippi State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko and Friends from Cathy's Restaurant. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Post Office Box 1818, Memphis, TN 38101. Visitation will be Wednesday 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home.
