Mr. Floyd Thomas "Tommy" Sizemore, Sr.

July 11, 1936 - December 1, 2018

Mr. Floyd Thomas "Tommy" Sizemore, Sr., 82, passed away on December 1, 2018, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Mr. Tommy was born July 11, 1936, in Clay County, the son of the late Floyd and Carrie Mae Harkins Sizemore. He attended Pheba School and was a graduate of West Point High School where he met his forever bride, Jean Fowler. Mr. Tommy and Mrs. Jean married December 3, 1955, in Starkville, and she preceded him in death on February 7, 2011. Tommy was well known around West Point and Clay County for his carpentry skills. He worked for Building Service Company, which later became Harrell and Briggs, for over 40 years. During this time he built many things that you will find around West Point, including the Gazebo in the park and Clay County Medical Center. He had a passion for his little widowed ladies, whom he offered a hand if they needed door locks, curtains or blinds hung, or just a simple hello and a meal with them. Many people will remember him by just handing him a picture of something they wanted and him being able to build it and gladly placing it in their home. He had many special friends in hunting clubs and lots of coon hunting buddies that he enjoyed. He especially enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with his family. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother: Harper Sizemore and a Godson: Jesse Wayne Peay. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Todd Chesser officiating and assisted by Reverend Andy Parrish and Reverend Karl Novak. Burial will follow in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery near Pheba. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include two daughters, Donna "Doopie" Cox (Bill) of Cedar Bluff and Melissa Wilson (Jimmy) of Mathiston; two sons, Floyd Thomas "Sonny" Sizemore, Jr. of Pheba and William Dee "Bill" Sizemore (Scarlet) of Clinton; Eleven Grandchildren and Twenty-two Great Grandchildren; One Sister, Glennis Marie Butler of Justin, TX; One Sister-in-Law: Jo Gresham of Tupelo and Three Brothers-in-Law: Jimmy Fowler (Annette) of Laurel, Tommy Fowler (Sherri) of Cedar Bluff, and Mac Miller of Greenwood; Numerous Nieces and Nephews; and his Caregiver of 10 years: Fannie "DeeDee" Ward of Pheba. Pallbearers will be Zack Walker, Robert Champion, Larry Walker, Eddie Strickland, Stephen Moore, Wesley Champion, Bob Washington, David Blansett and Blake Garrett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Champion, Roby White, Butch Childs, Mitch Brewer, James Holloway, Dr. Ed Miller, Dr. Ned Miller, Nurses and Staff of Sanctuary Hospice House, Nurses and Staff of Waverly Care Home, and His Many Friends in the Pheba Community.
