Mrs. Gracie Thelma Eaton Henderson

February 25, 1928 - May 1, 2015

Mrs. Gracie Thelma Eaton Henderson, 87, passed away on May 1, 2015, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point. Mrs. Thelma was born February 25, 1928, in Chickasaw County, the daughter of the late Lonnie Floyd and Icie Mable Carlisle Eaton. She was a self-employed seamstress. She also worked as a Court Bailiff for Clay County. She was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point. She was a member of the Martha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. One of fourteen brothers and sisters, Thelma loved family, making quilts, and baking for friends and family. She married Samuel Newt "Sam" Henderson on August 3, 1947, in Mathiston and he passed away October 25, 2000. Funeral services will be Monday, May 4, 2015, at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Walter Butler officiating, and assisted by Reverend J.R. Eaton, and Dr. James Towery. Burial will follow in Chickasaw Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Houston. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Her Daughter, Betty Ray Carpenter (Paul D.) of West Point; Her Son, Sam Henderson (Kerry) of Columbus; Four Grandchildren: Kimberly Ray Allen (William) of West Point, Jenna Henderson Lowry (Austin) of Memphis, TN, Kelly Ray Ramsay (Will) of West Point, and Kyle Smith Henderson of Cincinatti, OH; Six Great Grandchildren; Sara Frances Ramsay, Barrett Allen, Marci Allen, Lucy Ramsay, Ellen Lowry, and Sam Lowry; Her Three Sisters, Betty Jean Durham, Laura Helen Gann, and Claudia Huffman (Robert); Her Brother, Walter Lee Eaton all of Houston; Special Care Givers & Nieces: Mrs. Lucille Armstrong and Mrs. Velma Robinson both of West Point. and so many precious nieces and nephews; Mrs. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents: Lonnie Floyd and Icie Mable Carlisle Eaton; her husband: Samuel Newt "Sam" Henderson; her Son-in-Law: Billy Ray; her Step-Mother: Arlita Brooks; her five sisters including her Twin Sister: Betty Velma Eaton, Bulah Scaife, Odie Morgan, Elizabeth Eaton, and Ellie Mae Eaton; and her three Brothers: Floyd, Lloyd, and Billy Ray Eaton. Pallbearers will be Will Ramsay, William Allen, Mark Huffman, Robert Huffman, Austin Lowry, and Ronnie Robinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Judge Jim Kitchens, Judge Lee Howard, Forrest Allgood, Laddie Huffman, Floyd McKee, Robbie Robinson, Dr. T.N. Braddock, and the Nurses and Staff of Dugan Memorial Home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 or to or to your local Church's Children's Ministry.
