Mrs. Jennie Erle Cox Jaco "J"

December 5, 1925 - February 14, 2018

Mrs. Jennie Erle Cox Jaco "J", 92, passed away on February 14, 2018, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC. "J" was born December 5, 1925, in West Point the daughter of the late Erle Morgan and Jennie Lee Hicks Cox. She enjoyed a long life filled with many happy memories. "J" was educated at Stephens College, MO and Mississippi State University in music and business. In 1945 during World War II, she was selected as National Maid of Cotton and traveled the country promoting the cotton industry, visiting military hospitals and bases and selling war bonds. “J” married Charles Maples Jaco, Jr. on June 12, 1946, in West Point. Following her husband in his military career and diplomatic service, she became a world traveler. "J" moved to River Hills Plantation, in Lake Wylie, SC in 1974. She enjoyed golf and swimming, and was a former Mississippi state tennis singles champion. “J” composed music, sang, and played the piano and accordion. Her public service activities included volunteer work for the Red Cross in five states, PA State Mental Health Hospital, and BOD of the Wesley Institute Guild, Pittsburgh, PA. As a successful businesswoman and partner of JCI Consultants, Inc., she conducted workshops and seminars focusing on interpersonal relationships with Performance Dynamics Corp., Performax Systems International, and Shaklee Corp. "J" was selected by the Rock Hill Business and Professional Women’s Club as Career Woman of the Year, named Gorgeous Grandma by the Rock Hill Herald, and was inducted into the West Point, MS Hall of Fame. “J” held a positive attitude every day and will be missed by her family and friends. Graveside services will be Friday, February 23, 2018, at 1:00 P.M. from Greenwood Cemetery in West Point with Reverend Jeff Shannon officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Son, Charles E. Jaco and wife Pamela of Rock Hill, SC; Grandson: Charles R. Jaco and wife Joy of Winston Salem, NC; and Great-Grandson: Charles N. Jaco ("CJ") of Winston Salem, NC. Memorials may be made to Park Pointe Village Samaritan Fund, 3025 Chesbrough Boulevard, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Visitation will be Friday 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Calvert Funeral Home.
