Mr. Joe Hurst

Mr. Joseph C. "Joe" Hurst, 76, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at his residence in West Point. Joe was born November 25, 1944 at Moody Field Army Air Force Base near Valdosta, Georgia, the son of the late Grover C. and Lena Wilhite Hurst. He was employed by Babcock & Wilcox in West Point for 38 years working as a Certified Manufacturing Engineer in the field of Production and Inventory Control. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of their children; Judith Hurst, one sister; Ann Hurst Cummings and one brother; James (Bud) Hurst. Visitation will be Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Calvert Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday, October 18, 2021, at 2:00 pm from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Gillon officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. He is survived by his three daughters; Cindy Baucom (Paul) of Columbus, Debbie Myers (Josh), and Angie Saylors (James), both of West Point, one son; James Keith Hurst of Slidell, Louisiana: one sister; Kay Hurst Nordyke (Rick) of Cleveland, Tennessee: one brother; Charles Hurst of Mullins, South Carolina, five grandchildren: Bryan, Madison and Colby Baucom, Angel Ware (Jacob) and Brittany Bensend: two great-grandchildren, Weston and Lakelyn Ware and a very special companion, Mary Cummings Hurst of West Point. Pallbearers will be Josh Myers, James Saylors, Jacob Ware, Tommy Duncan, Todd Duncan, and Payton Duncan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobbie Graham, WPHS Class of "62", Friends and Co-Workers at Babcock & Wilcox, and Clovis Duncan.
