Mr. John Ed McComic Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. John Ed McComic, Sr., 76, passed away on October 20, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mr. John Ed was born July 19, 1939, in West Point, the son of the late Eddie Lee "Bud" and Addie "Granny" Gibson McComic. He was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point, but enjoyed visiting other churches and their congregations. He owned and operated Foodland Grocery in West Point for 45 years. He married Hazel Hardin on June 13, 1958, and they were married for 57 years. Early in his life, Mr. John Ed enjoyed bowling. He enjoyed people and his favorite hobby was visting with and making sure his customers at Foodland Grocery were well taken care of. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Mrs. Barbara McManus and his Brother: Henry Cleveland "Buckwheat" McComic. Funeral services will be Friday, October 23, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Todd Chesser officiating and assisted by Reverend Jerry King. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include His Wife Hazel McComic; Daughter, Angela (Angie) Williams; Two Sons, John E. "Johnny" McComic, Jr. (Debbie), and Charles Allen "Hoss" McComic; Six Grandchildren; Teri Lynn Thompson (James), Stacy Davis (Richard), Chad McComic, Jeremy Lee Williams, Mona McComic, and Dusty Miller (John); Three Great Grandchildren; Madison Thompson, Kendal Davis, and Caylon Thompson all of West Point; and Niece: Anita Brown of Mooreville. Pallbearers will be Glenn Hardin, Ricky Hardin, Bob Logan, David Smith, Patrick Cully, and Johnny Hancock. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Bill East, Dr. Edmund A. Miller, Jr., Gina Whitecar, Nurses and Staff of the C.C.U. Unit at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Nurses and Staff of The Hospice Unit at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Terry Scott, Eddie Scott, Jonathan Randle, Brother Stanley Adams, His Neighbors and Friends in the Lone Oak Community, and All of his Loyal and Faithful Customers at Foodland Grocery in West Point.
