Mr. John William Robertson Sr.

April 26, 1930 - June 26, 2014

Mr. John William Robertson, Sr., 84, passed away on June 26, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus. Mr. John William Robertson, Sr. was born April 26,1930, in Black Hawk, MS in Carroll County the son of the late Howell S. and Annie Velma Coward Robertson. He retired after 38 years as a supervisor for Bryan Foods. He was a member of First Christian Church. He Married Sally Elizabeth Kuykendall October 22,1949, in Canton, MS and they were married for 61 years until she passed away September 16,2011. He and Mrs. Sally were both avid sports enthusiasts, who often could be found cheering on both Mississippi State and Oak Hill Academy. He was also an outdoors man who enjoyed Crappie fishing. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Bernice Acy and Odette Gentry and two brothers; Joe and Jack Robertson. Funeral services will be June 28, 2014, at 4:00 PM from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Kirby Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery near Montpelier. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include His two sons, John William Robertson, Jr. of Starkville and Todd Robertson (Jan) of West Point; 2 Grandsons; Scot Bryan of West Point and Taylor Robertson (Lindsey) of Meridian; 1 Great Grandson; William Walker Robertson; Sister-in-Law; Nancy Keller (Harold) of West Point; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Paul Caskey, Ronnie Robinson, Justin Davis, Brandon McGarity, Taylor Robertson, and Scot Bryan. Honorary Pallbearer will be Robert Louis Elliott. Memorials may be made to Palestine Cemetery Fund, C/O Mrs. Roxie Brock, 9675 Joe Stevens Road, Cedar Bluff, MS 39741. Visitation will be Saturday 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Calvert Funeral Home.
