Mrs. Lena Willhite Hurst

September 6, 1919 - October 6, 2017

Mrs. Lena Willhite Hurst, 98, passed away on October 6, 2017, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point. Mrs. Lena was born September 6, 1919, in Carroll County, MS, the daughter of the late George Washington and Alice Benton McNair Willhite. She was a member of West End Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Lena enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Grover Cleveland Hurst, who passed away on November 16, 1969, and by her son: Bud Hurst and Son-in-Law: John Cummings and 2 Daughters-in-Law: Judy Hurst and Shirley Hurst. Graveside services will be Monday, October 9, 2017, at 11:30 A.M. from Greenwood Cemetery in West Point with Reverend Roy Myers officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Two Daughters, Ann Hurst Cummings of West Point, and Kay Hurst Nordyke (Rick) of Cleveland, TN; Two Sons, Joe Hurst of West Point, and Charles Hurst of Mullen, SC; Daughter-in-Law: Mary Hurst of West Point; Eight Grandchildren: Mike Cummings, Anthony Cummings (Beth), Keith Hurst, Cindy Hurst Baucom (Paul), Debbie Langley, Angela Saylors (James), Monica Woods (Jason), and Mandi Choate (Ed); Sixteen Great Grandchildren and Three Great-Great Grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Anthony Cummings, Bradley Cummings, Bryan Baucom, James Saylors, Aaron Cummings, Ed Choate, and Mike Cummings. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nurses and Staff of Dugan Memorial Home, Nurses and Staff of Sanctuary Hospice, Dr. Edmund A. Miller, Jr., and Brett Miller, N.P. Memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1293 Hendersonville Road, Suite 1, Asheville, NC 28803 or to Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39701. Visitation will be Monday 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Calvert Funeral Home. Friends may leave an online condolence at www.calvertfuneralhome.com
