Mrs. Lucy Coleman

July 15, 1928 - September 11, 2019

Mrs. Lucy G. Coleman, 91, passed away on September 11, 2019 at the West Point Community Living Center in West Point. Mrs. Lucy was born on July 15, 1928, in Montpelier, the daughter of the late William and Cordie Blake Houk. She was a graduate of Montpelier High School. She worked as a Seamstress for Knickerbocker and Big Yank. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. She was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She married James Thaddious Coleman on October 12, 1946 in Clay County and he preceded her in death on October 29, 1995. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters: Debbra Jennings and Patricia Coleman Crouch and a brother: William Earl Houk. Visitation will be Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Betty Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Bluff Cemetery in Mantee. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include her three sons, James Coleman (Penny) of Glen, Ron Coleman (Billie) of Clear Water, Florida, and Dennis Coleman of West Point: a Son-In-Law: Terry Jennings of West Point; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and a special friend, Jean White (Rigg) of Clear Water, Florida. Pallbearers will be Charles Bryan, James West, Duston Jennings, Terry Jennings, Jr., Quince Stewart, and Chris Coleman. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nurses and Staff of West Point Community Living Center, the Nurses and Staff of North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, and Amelia McCormick.
