Mrs. Maggie Turner King

June 30, 1913 - June 19, 2014

Mrs. Maggie Turner King, 100, passed away on June 19, 2014, at her home in West Point. Mrs. Maggie was born June 30, 1913, in the Longview Community of Oktibbeha County the daughter of the late Jim Henry and Addie Ann Kendrick Heflin. On May 3, 1930, when she was 16, she married Earl Turner from the Hickory Grove Community of Oktibbeha County, and they lived in Starkville for 39 years. After his death in 1970, she married William Charles King, Jr. of West Point on January 26, 1974, and he passed away November 24, 1997. She and Bill enjoyed 24 years together. During her years in Starkville, she was employed at the Co-Operative Creamery for about 30 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Point. Special thanks is given to her long-time caretaker, Ms. Marie Morgan. Graveside Services will be held Sunday, June 22, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. from Memorial Garden Park Cemetery in Starkville with Reverend Jeff Shannon officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include One Daughter, Shelby Turner Watson of Chattanooga, TN; Two Grandsons: Eric Watson (Deidre) of Atlanta, GA and Blake Watson (Leigh) of Ringold, GA; Five Great Grandchildren: Chase Watson, Camille Watson, Cole Watson, Anna Leigh Watson, and Mitchell Watson; Two Step-Daughters: Dianne Houston of Waddsworth, OH, and Jean Dillon of Huntsville, AL; Two Step Sons: William Charles King, III of Waddsworth, OH, and Robert Leslie King of Waddsworth, OH; Her Favorite Nieces: Gale Newman of Liberty, MS and Barbara Anders of Brookhaven, MS; Preceding her in death were her sister: Neely Daniels and two Brothers: Emmett Heflin and Ike Heflin.
