Mrs. Maude Ruth Hornsby Scott Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Maude Ruth Hornsby Scott, 96, passed away on July 21, 2018, at her home in near Pheba. Mrs. Maude was born October 4, 1921, in Lake, MS, the daughter of the late Mack and Amelia Rand Hornsby. She was a member of St. Mark M.B. Church in Lake, but attended Hebron Baptist Church in Pheba. Early in her adulthood, she was a Nurses Assistant at Christian Welfare Hospital in East St. Louis, Illinois, but more importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was an avid and accomplished vegetable gardener who had a green thumb. Mrs. Scott was known to be mild mannered, but meant what she said and said what she meant. She enjoyed singing and that inspired the beginning of the group "The Scott Singers". She married the Reverend Orange Dean Scott on August 11, 1942, in Lake, MS, and he passed away August 9, 2016. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her daughter: Tracy Scott and by 4 Sons: Jerry, Tommie Mack, Michael, and Rickey Scott and several brothers and sisters. Celebration of Life Services will be Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Andy Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion M.B. Church Cemetery near Pheba, MS. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include her seven daughters, Barbara Dean Scott Daniels of San Antonio, TX, Shirley Ruth Scott Harvey of Pheba, Mary Ann Scott Sain of San Antonio, TX, Stephanie Scott Kidd of O'Fallon, IL, Theresa Scott Williams (Oscar) of East St. Louis, IL; Julia Scott of Lovejoy, IL, Diana Lynn Scott of Lovejoy, IL; her two sons: Raymon Scott of Collinsville, IL and Major James Scott of Clawson, MI; A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Pallbearers will be Anthony Stephen Kizer, Daniel Henry, Sr., Damian Kizer, Cordell Scott, Darrean Henry, Dante Henry, and Orlandis Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nurses and Staff of North Mississippi Medical Center Home Health Care and her many Friends at the North Mississippi Medical Center Wellness Center.
