Mr. Morris Ross

Gary Morris Ross, 62, passed away on May 23, 2012 at his home in Darrow, La. He was born April 3, 1950, to Margaret Hussey Ross and the late Benjamin Franklin Ross, Sr. Survivors include his mother; one sister, Cindy Sanders (Johnny) of Tupelo; one brother, Ben Ross, Jr. of Columbus; two nephews, John Sanders, Jr. (Joan) and Taylor Sanders (Amanda) and two nieces, Wendy Hutson (Kirby) all of Tupelo, MS, Mericlare Paxton (Lee) of Inverness, MS; and ten great nieces and nephews. His father and one brother, Carl Dudley Ross, preceded him in death. Gary accepted Christ as his savior at age 12 and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Columbus. He graduated from Lee High School, Columbus and attended EMCC for two years. He served four years in the United States Air Force, serving 18 months in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. Gary was employed by Weber Marine in Darrow, La. Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, June 1, at First Baptist Church, downtown Columbus with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 and continue to service time at the church. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Honorary pallbearers are John Sanders, Jr., Taylor Sanders, Kirby Hutson, Lee Paxton, Hoyt Johnson, Jerry Gentry, Steve Wallace and Tom Brown. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 829, Columbus, MS. 39703-0829 or to a charity of donor’s choice.
