Mr. "Buddy" Watson

July 31, 2013

Thomas David "Buddy" Watson, 59, passed away, on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Baptist Memorial GT, in Columbus. Buddy was born March 28, 1954 in West Point, Mississippi to Sarah Lucille Chafin and the late Thomas Jefferson Watson, Jr. He was a plumbing assistant with C & S Plumbing and was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, but had attended the Church of God of Refuge. He enjoyed fishing and listening to gospel music. Funeral services will be Friday, August 2, 2013, 2:00 P. M. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Todd Chesser officiating, assisted by Mr. Wayne Doster. Burial will follow in Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery Cedar Bluff. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include one son, Joseph Andrew Watson of Vernon, AL; mother Sarah Lucille Chafin Watson of West Point, five sisters, Marie Lepicier (Richard), Dorothy Staten (Andy), Nancy Hardin (Larry), Maudie Walls (Doug) all of West Point, Ann Palmer (Robert) of Maben; half-sister and brother, Thomasine Bateman (Buddy), and John T. "Bubby" Watson (Diane) all of West Point; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Peggy Joyce Stafford and Anita "Nene" Howe and brother Finley Watson. Pallbearers will be Eddie Cheney, Jeffery Chaney, Philip Kellum, Brian Staten, Jim Price, Justin Price, Dwayne Bigham, and Jason Bigham. Honorary Pallbearers will be Barry Morris, Jimmy Horton, Kenneth O'Brian, Derek Bush, Earley Foster, Mrs. Elosie Johnson, Tim Stafford, Martha Cook, and Prince Spraggins. Memorials may be made to Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery, C/O Mrs. Anna Sims, 911 Henryville Road, Cedar Bluff, MS 39741 or to Church of God of Refuge, Hwy 50 East, West Point, MS 39773. Visitation will be Thursday, 5:00-800 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
