Mrs. Seery Dickert

July 7, 2013

Carolyn Seery Dickert passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in Autumn Leaves Assisted Living in Grapevine, Texas at the grand age of 82. Carolyn was born in West Point on July 24, 1930 to Lawrence Seery and Emma Unger both from West Point. Attending West Point high school Carolyn excelled as a talented musician and even led the West Point High School Band as the Drum Major marching in the Macy Day Parade. After graduating from high school she attended Mississippi State University for Woman. Following a sister to Racine, Wisconsin Carolyn met the man she was to marry, the late William H. Dickert Sr. After having two children, William H. Dickert and Caren Teresa Dickert, they decided to move back to the warm South of Carolyn’s home town. In 1963 their third child was born, Seery Dickert. Carolyn was an avid lover of antiques. She enjoyed the hunt for them and refinishing them to revive their luster. She was a talented artist and shared that talent whenever asked to help with a project. Satsuma, a Japanese porcelain, was a love of hers and she actively collected it. Carolyn enjoyed attending and throwing dinner parties. And anyone that knew her would recognize that infectious laugh she had. In her later years she became the Tour Guide for Waverly Mansion where she loved to tell stories, as a child, of playing in the mansion while it was still empty. Carolyn was a gracious and genuine “Southern” lady. Her door was always open where she would greet you with her beautiful smile. Family and friends were her priority through the good times and bad times. Carolyn is survived by two sons, William H. Dickert of Coppell, Texas, Seery Dickert of West Point and one daughter, Caren Teresa Dickert of Manassas, VA, seven grandchildren - Courtney Paschall, William H Dickert III, Marian Dickert, Sierra Dickert, Savannah Dickert, Ryan Rugg, and Chris Rugg, eight great grandchildren - Walker, Gencye, Quade Addison, Sterling, Jackson, Myla and Paisley, one sister, Kay Vandenbranden and many nieces and nephews. Carolyn’s gracious charm, all knowing shoulder, glistening welcoming eyes and laugh will be missed but never forgotten. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 9, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend John Kellogg officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Eric Vandenbranden, Seery Dickert, Trey Dickert, and Paul Pascahall. Visitation will be Monday, 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 9:30 a.m until service time at Calvert Funeral Home.
