West Point, Mississippi – Mrs. Cecil Erwin McDermott, 91, passed away, on April 30, 2012, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point. Mrs. McDermott was born July 29, 1920, in West Point to the late Ethel Peteet and John Cecil Erwin. Mrs. McDermott graduated from Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri. She was the Selective Service Clerk in West Point for 23 years and was a Communicant of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mrs. McDermott married Gerald Francis McDermott on November 15, 1969, in West Point and he predeceased her on April 6, 2004. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Mrs. McDermott's devoted caregivers: Jeannett Smith and Mary Westbrook and the caring staff at Dugan Memorial Home.. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Father Robert Dore officiating, and assisted by Lay Ecclesial Minister Loretta Duquette. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her daughter, Emily Gay Bolich (Adrian Dale) of Hawthorne, N.J., her Step-Son: Ted McDermott (Mary Beth) of Ooltewah, TN, 3 Grandsons: John Bolich Jr. of Warwick, N.Y., Geoffrey Bolich of Ringwood, N.J., and Sean McDermott of Seymour, TN; 4 great grandchildren; 3 Nieces: Ann Miller Ross of West Point, Thomasine Miller Blankenship of Plano, TX, and Sarah Hilliard Mirjanich of Miami, OK. In addition to her parents and husband, those preceding her in death were her Sisters: Ethel Marvin Miller and Elizabeth Hilliard and her Step-Daughter: Mary McDermott. Pallbearers will be Luke Lummus, Joey Michel, Steve Mitchener, Tommy McTaggart, Phillip Dimino, Joe Ed Waldrep, and Cole Knighton. Memorials may be made to Charity of your Choice. Visitation will be Friday 5:00-6:30 p.m. with a Rosary Service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
