West Point, Mississippi - Ruby Gibson "Dot" Beatty, 79, passed away on May 1, 2012, at Dogwood Forest Assisted Living Facility in Gainesville, GA. Mrs. Beatty was born February 5, 1933, in Columbus to the late Lida Bell Lollar and Linwood Gibson. She was a Case Worker with Clay County Welfare Department for 10 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point. Mrs. Beatty has lived in Clay County and West Point since 1956. She married Lennis Beatty December 29, 1951, in Columbus and he preceded her in death on October 4, 2007 . Funeral services will be Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dale Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in Columbus. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Two sons, Lennis Henry Beatty (Leslie) of Cordova, TN and Michael Tyrone Beatty (Lisa) of Gainesville, GA. Three grandsons and One Great Granddaughter, One sister, Lois McCullough of Columbus. Four Brothers and One Sister precede her in death Pallbearers will be Eric Beatty, Jamea Beatty, Chris Beatty, Gary Beatty, Lindley Beatty, Jr. and Sunny Gibson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. T. N. Braddock and Dr. Edmund A. Miller, Jr. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 8217, Jackson, MS 39284 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until service time Saturday at Calvert Funeral Home.
