Mr. Steve Dragoo

Steve Dragoo, 74, passed away on December 31, 2016 at his home. Mr. Dragoo, was born on March 11, 1942, in Muncie, Indiana, the son of the late Thomas E. and Helen Bader Dragoo. Mr. Dragoo was a member of First Christian Church in West Point. Mr. Dragoo served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Dairy and Soybean farmer for over 30 years. He had a great love for his family. He married Margaret "Peggy" Dragoo on March 14, 1964 in Pittsburgh PA. She predeceased him on December 1, 1993. In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Taylor Dragoo; and three sisters and two brothers. Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 2 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Kirby Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his daughters, Judy West of West Point, Stephanie Bryan (Bill) of West Point; his sons, Steve Dragoo (Sherry) of West Point, Ted Dragoo (Michelle) of Brandon; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and his buddy: Peggy Jean Willis; and his brother, Joe Dragoo of Booneville. Pallbearers will be Glen Rhea, David Yang, Tom Sheward, Sammy J. Dragoo, Tad Dragoo, Gary Gwathney, and Michael Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be Doug Jolly, Dr. Nanda of Birmingham, Dr. Jamel of Birmingham, Dr. Robert, Dr. Powell, his nurses: Tiffany and Meredith, The Staff of U.A.B. Hospital, The Staffs of the V.A. Hospitals in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, Dr. Jones and his staff, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Hudson, Baptist Hospice, and Baptist Oncology. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 8217, Jackson, MS 39284 or to Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216. Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2017 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home.
