Mrs. Vivian McGuire Mathews

August 29, 1921 - October 30, 2018

Mrs. Vivian McGuire Mathews, 97, passed away on October 30, 2018, at Village East Assisted Living Home in Pell City, Alabama. Mrs. Vivian was born August 29, 1921, in West Point, the daughter of the late William F. and Edna Leona Holley McGuire. Mrs. Vivian was a Graduate of West Point High School. She married N.Q. Mathews on June 9, 1939, in Starkville and he passed away March 27, 1998. While living in Starkville, Mrs. Vivian was an active member of the Oktoc Garden Club. Mrs. Vivian was a people person and was always genuinely interested and concerned about the well-being of others. She put the interest of others before herself. She was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting birds. She was a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution. She was a Baptist and a very active member of the Women's Missionary Union. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 1:00 P.M. from Greenwood Cemetery in West Point, MS. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the local arrangements. Survivors include two daughters, Holley Marrs (Randle) of Pell City, AL and Merilee Hutto Myers (Marvin) of Meadville, MS; Three Grandchildren: Tracy Caldwell (Greg) of Homewood, AL, Amy Verrette (Toby) of Cocoa, FL, and Ashley Dykman (Matt) of Florence, MS; Seven Great Grandchildren: Jaclyn Willis (Adam) of Oxford, AL, Luke Caldwell of Auburn, AL, Lydia Caldwell of Tuscaloosa, AL, Nicholas Verrette of Cocoa, FL, Sawyer Dykman of Florence, MS, Sadie Dykman of Florence, MS, and Frannie Dykman of Florence, MS; one sister, Edna Gilliland and one brother, Phil McGuire both of Macon, MS. Memorials may be made to Christian Missionary Fellowship Organization, C/O CMF International, P.O. Box 501020, Indianapolis, IN 46250 CMFI.org.
