Mrs. Addie Rae Young

–

West Point, Mississippi

Mrs. Addie Rae Young was born March 15, 1924, in Cedar Bluff, the daughter of the late Claude and Mary Addie Gilliland Wyatt. Mrs. Addie was an active lady in her lifetime, working both at West Point Flower Shop and Rose Drug Company. She was also self-employed selling both Avon and custom floral arrangements. She was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Point, where she participated both in the Joy Club and the Home Bound Program. She was an avid and accomplished cook making the best bread and butter pickles and wonderful candy. Mrs. Addie enjoyed many outdoor activities such as walking, fishing, and gardening. She loved the outdoors and all animals that lived in their natural environment, especially butterflies. Mrs. Addie enjoyed showing her gaited horse at the local horse shows, where she won several trophies. She had a wonderful sense of humor and very playful and adventuresome. Even though she couldn't swim, she once went tubing down the river in Helen, GA. She married Mr. Paul Louis Young, Sr. on March 5, 1944, in Oktibbeha County and he passed away November 10, 2015. The family would like to extend a special and sincere thank you to Mrs. Addie's caregivers, Tiawandra Vance, Rosie Vance, Helen Doss, and Angela Colbert, along with the Nurses and Staff of Sanctuary Home Hospice for the excellent care, concern, and love shown Mrs. Addie. The family will have a private family memorial service at a later date. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include Two Daughters, Linda C.
