Mr. Byron Acker

Mr. Byron Acker passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, at his home in Cedar Bluff, at the age of 63. Born on April 2, 1963, in West Point, Byron was the son of Charlie and Helen White Acker. Mr. Charlie preceded him in death on November 11, 2014. On August 22, 1987, Byron married, Sherry Clark Acker, in West Point. Their union, spanning nearly four decades, was a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, joy, and cherished memories. Byron dedicated 32 years of his life to serving as a Foreman with the City of West Point Water Department and was a self employed plumber. After his retirement, he worked in Customer Service at Phillip’s Hardware in West Point. His unwavering commitment to his work and community earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and residents alike. Beyond his professional life, Byron was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Byron had a passion for life that was evident to all who knew him. He had a keen eye for antiques, delighting in the search and discovery of hidden treasures. His love for antiques was matched only by his love for gardening, where he found peace and joy in cultivating his vegetable garden. Byron's greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. Whether he was entertaining them by dressing up for a tea party or giving them rides on his tractor, he found immense happiness in their laughter and smiles. His playful spirit and loving nature left an indelible mark on their hearts. Byron's warm heart, generosity, and genuine love for others were his defining qualities. His legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Byron will be missed but remembered by all whose lives he touched. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of love, strength, and kindness. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. and Wednesday, from 9:00-10:00 A. M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Kevin Acker officiating and assisted by Dr. James Towery. Burial will follow in Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Cedar Bluff with Bro. Jack Dauphin officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sherry Acker of Cedar Bluff: his three sons, Kevin Wayne Acker (Katie) of West Point, Mark Acker (April) of Cedar Bluff, and Corey Acker (Tory) of Cedar Bluff: five grandchildren, Tristan and Toby Acker of Cedar Bluff, Knoa and Asher Acker of West Point, and Murphy Claire Acker of Cedar Bluff: his mother, Helen Acker of Saltillo: one sister, Susan Lucas (Larry) of Saltillo: one brother, Donald Acker (Beth) of Saltillo: his mother-in-law, Betty Clark of Cedar Bluff: his sister-in-law, Rita Buckingham (Kenneth) of Verona: one niece, Grace Lucas of Saltillo, and one nephew, Samuel Lucas (Brianna) of Pineville, Louisiana. Pallbearers will be Mark Sullivan, Roger Brasfield, Jaimy Towery, Myron Foster, Keith White, Tim White, Ken Wilbourne, and Curt Ward. Honorary Pallbearers will be Burt Nix, Bud Bowen, Clark Baker, the Employees of Phillip's Hardware, his former co-workers of the City of West Point Water and Light Department, and his many friends at Enon Baptist Church.
