Mr. C. B. Thompson

Clarence Boyd “C.B.” Thompson, Jr., 74, of West Point, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family following an extended illness. C.B. was born November 9, 1950, in Alexandria, Virginia, the son of the late Clarence Boyd and Ann Rhea Thompson. He attended West Point City Schools before entering the United States Army where he served as a Military Policeman in Korea. After returning from Korea, he worked as a mechanic at Jameson Ford Motor Company. He later worked at Clark Motor Company and Larry White Chevrolet before starting his own business. He owned and operated Thompson Auto Repair and C & G Towing for more than 40 years where he was well known for his expertise in mechanics and building engines. He was an avid NASCAR fan and longtime collector of Dale Earnhardt, Sr., and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., memorabilia. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Before his health would no longer allow it, he enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee every morning. C.B. married the love of his life, Patricia Vest Thompson, on October 10, 1969. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Bettye Jean Wingo and his brother, Thomas F. Thompson. Visitation will be on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bubba Vest officiating and assisted by Bro. Marcus Hearn. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by a daughter, Gina Pearson (Mike), and a son, Riley Rhea Thompson, both of West Point; three grandchildren, Ben Pearson of West Point, Kamryn Harris (Tyler) of Saltillo, and Brynlee Thompson of West Point, one sister, Dorothy Parker, of Sumrall, and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. The family would like to recognize Dr. Ned Miller and Legacy Hospice Nurses and staff as honorary pallbearers.
