Mrs. Carolyn Ann Atkins

Carolyn Ann Atkins, 85, peacefully passed away in her home August 22, 2024, surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones. Carolyn was born in Heathman, Mississippi on June 8, 1939. With her father working for the railroad, her family moved around until they settled in Maben, Mississppi. She is a 1956 graduate of Maben High School. Much of her childhood was spent in Maben where she met the love of her life, Lee Roy Atkins Sr. They were happily married and inseparable for 69 years. Carolyn was a long time member of West End Baptist Church in West Point. She spent many years teaching in the Children’s Church Department and was the Harvest Worker’s Sunday School Class teacher. She worked as an accountant for H & R Block before opening her own business, Atkins Tax Service. She retired in 2015. She loved gardening, spending time with family, and playing card games with family and friends. She was also an avid Ole Miss sports fan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Atkins Sr. and daughter, Marsha Atkins Ray; her parents Marshall and Mary Elizabeth Turner; three brothers, Boyd Turner, Howard Turner, and James Marshall Turner; and two sisters, Peggy Kellum and Patsy Enlow. Carolyn is survived by her children Donna Atkins Adamec and Chip Atkins (Kinta) of West Point. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Lee Ray (Lauren) of Louisburg, Kansas; Rachel Ray, Adam Ray (Brittaney), Kelsey Bercegeay (Clint) all of West Point; Shay Ladner (Devin) of Gulfport; and honorary grandson, Justin Jones of Ringgold, Louisiana, along with her four cherished great grandchildren, Kimber Ray, Willow Ray, Cutter Bercegeay, and Kolton Bercegeay, sister, Linda Williamson of Grenada; brother in law Dale Enlow of New Hope; two sisters in law Janice Turner of Brandon and Dorothy Cole of West Point, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 1:00 until 3:00 pm at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dale Funderburg officiating and Eulogy delivered by Miss Rachel Ray. Christian burial to follow at Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home in West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Pallbearers will be Adam Ray, Tony Tumer, Clint Bercegeay, Justin Jones, Barry Atkins, and Devin Ladner. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nurses and Staff of Gentiva Hospice and the Harvest Worker’s Sunday School Class at West End Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church, P.O.
