Charles Magers

Mr. Charles E. Magers, 89, passed away on February 11, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mr. Charles was born October 28, 1935, in Baldwyn, the son of the late Charlie Raymond and Mildred Conlee Magers. Mr. Charles was a fun and loving man that thoroughly enjoyed pulling a prank on someone. A prank that didn't mean any harm to anyone. He enjoyed each and every day of his life. He enjoyed thoroughly browsing at Wal-Mart and Lowe's. He enjoyed going to work. He was President of Jordan Transfer Company, Inc. of West Point. He often said, "if you enjoy your job, you never work a day in your life." He was always leading by example. He was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point, where he was a member of The Randy Hamblin Men's Sunday School Class. He was a strong christian man and a Gideon. He was a member of the West Point Masonic Lodge #40 F.&A.M. Other than loving and having a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, he loved his family more than anything. He was the "rock" of his family. He enjoyed supporting his grandchildren and their sporting events. He even enjoyed treating his grandchildren to a meal at Hardees. He was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Walters Anderson, his second wife, Donna Jordan Magers, step-daughter, Kimberly Haughton, great-grandchild, Maxon Lane Magers, brother, Donny Magers, and son-in-law, Buddy Huffman. Visitation will be Friday 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home, and additional visitation will be held Saturday at First Baptist Church in West Point from 1:00 until service time at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. James Towery officiating and assisted by Mr. Stanley Spradling. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point, Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include his Wife Hilda E. Magers of West Point; two daughters, Connie Magers (Randy) of Westerly, RI, and Paige M. Huffman of West Point; three sons, Ricky Magers (Susie) of Wetumpka, AL, Steve Magers (Cassie) of Lebanon, MO, and Bobby Magers of West Point; Step-Son, Robbie Kelsey (Dot) of West Point, 15 Grandchildren, Brad Magers of Columbus, Jenny Flaherty (Justin) of Tupelo, Derek Whitford of Muskogee, OK, Jason Magers of Wetumpka, AL, Marc Magers (Ashley) of Tupelo, Eric Magers of Texas, Lindsay Hatoway (Jason) of Swansea, MA, Russ Magers of West Point, Curt Huffman (Ashley) of League City, TX, Dalton Magers of West Point, Manning Huffman of West Point, Rob Kelsey (Julia) of West Point, T.J. Haughton of West Point, Kyle Roeser (Becca) of Rochester, MN, Laurie Rotering (Kurt) of Overland Park, KS; 23 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Pat Riggs of Tupelo, and Debbie Elliott (Bobby) of Nettleton; 2 sisters-in-law: Kay Shurden of Starkville and Susan Elliott of West Point; Brother-in-law: Charles Elliott (Angie) of West Point and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Brad Magers, Derek Whitford, Jason Magers, Marc Magers, Russ Magers, Curt Huffman, Dalton Magers, and Manning Huffman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Hamblin Men's Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Employees of Jordan Transfer Company, Inc., and his many friends in West Point.
