Mrs. Cherrel Jan Sanders

Mrs. Jan Sanders, 78, passed away on December 30, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Cherrel Jan Sanders was born on July 19, 1947, in Macon, the daughter of the late W. S. and Ethel Vernon Lee. Jan was the second eldest of five daughters. She grew up in West Point, and at the age of 12, she joined West End Baptist Church. Jan graduated from West Point High School in 1965. She married Albert Sanders on April 3 1965, in West Point. Soon after, they moved to Columbus where they raised their two sons, Vince and Shane. Together they owned Sanders TV Service. At their retirement, they relocated to Starkville to be close to their sons and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sylvia Simmons (Ron) and Rebekah Branch (Mike) and two brothers-in-law, Merrill Sanders (Elizabeth) and David Sanders (Jaunel). Visitation will be Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Albert Sanders: her son, Vince Sanders (Tasha) and their children, Gage (Kameron), Grant, and Sophie, and grandchildren, Madelyn Rae and Vivi Kate and son, Shane Sanders (Ann Marie) and their children, Andrew, Victoria (Owen), and Mary Kathryn: two sisters, Peggy Adams (Tommy) and Brenda Mitchell (Mark): two sisters-in-law, Kathy Wills and Becky Parker (Hubert) and a brother-in-law, Bobby Sanders (Barbara). Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Andrew, Gage, and Grant, as well as Larry Simmons, Owen King, and Jacob Inmon.
