Mrs. Clara Hampton

Mrs. Clara Hampton, 91, passed away on December 27, 2024, at Park View Meadows Assisted Living Facility in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Mrs. Clara was born January 14, 1933, in West Point, the daughter of the late Ira Clinton and Minnie Griffin Montgomery. However, she always considered to be raised by Mr. Thomas McNeel. She married William Arthur Hampton on April 12, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland, and they lived in Maryland for a number of years before moving to West Point in 1976. He passed away March 3, 1999. Mrs. Clara made a career working in data processing. After moving back to West Point, Mrs. Clara went to work as a data processor for Watkins Ward and Stafford, where she worked for over 25 years. Mrs. Clara was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, where she was a fervent prayer warrior. Mrs. Clara had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Mrs. Clara loved to sing and being around people, but most of all, she loved being a mom and wife. In 2022, Mrs. Clara moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to be near her son. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Clara was preceded in death by one grandson, William Franklin Hampton; one sister, Mary Hurt; and six brothers, Bilbo McNeel, Vern McNeel, Tommy McNeel, James Montgomery, Charles Montgomery, and Robert Montgomery. Visitation will be Friday, January 3, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Calvert Funeral Home Funeral in West Point and Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in West Point. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Dale Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Bluff Cemetery in Mantee. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include one daughter, Debbie H. Watkins (Paul) of McComb: one son, William Michael Hampton (Cindy) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee: two grandchildren, Kristen Elise Swann (Travis) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Timothy Bryant Watkins of McComb: one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Swann of Murfreesboro, Tennessee: one sister, Sue Thomas of Seattle, Washington: one sister-in-law, Betty McNeel of Mantee: one brother, Sammie McNeel (Jennie) of West Point: Special Family Friends: Kris & Laura Hollis of West Point, and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family. Pallbearers will be Timothy Watkins, Paul Watkins, Travis Swann, Kris Hollis, Willie Taylor, and Michael Busby. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nurses & Staff of Park View Meadows Assisted Living Facility and her First Baptist Church Family. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Music Ministry, P.O.
