Mr. Gilbert Sanders

Mr. Gilbert Sanders, 77, passed away on March 9, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Mr. Gilbert was born September 23, 1939 in Longview, the son of the late to James T. and Lorene Murphy Sanders. Mr. Gilbert worked in Produce for Kroger for 38 years. Mr. Gilbert was a member of West End Baptist Church in West Point. Mr. Gilbert was a Veteran of the Mississippi Army National Guard, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Mr. Gilbert married Frances Kennedy on October 4, 1970, in Amory and she preceded him in death on August 8, 2008. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a infant brother, Charles Felix Sanders. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 12, 2017, at 4:00 P.M. at West End Baptist Church in West Point with Brother Eddie Painter officiating and assisted by Reverend Chris Layton. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include His daughter, Tammy Farr (Mike) of West Point, His son, Brother Eddie Painter (Lisa) of Greenville; Four grandchildren; Elisabeth VanTuinen (Shane) of Starkville, Angel Painter of Metairie, LA, and Jessica and John Michael Farr, both of West Point; a great-grandson, Cody Painter of Metairie, LA; a brother, Mike Sanders (Mary) of Clarksdale and a number of Nieces and Nephews. Pallbearers will be John Michael Farr, Matt Sanders, Mason Sanders, Shane VanTuinen, Tim Horne, and John Hughes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Burt Allen, The Men's 2 Sunday School Class at West End Baptist Church, His fellow drivers at Enterprise and Mitchell Buick and His West Point Green Wave Family.
