Hansel Hill "Squirrel" Simmons Hamilton, Alabama - Hansel Hill "Squirrel" Simmons, 69, died, Monday, January 9, 2012 at the North MS Medical Center-Hamilton, AL. Hansel Hill Simmons was born February 8, 1942 in Montpelier, Mississippi to the late Ruby Hill and William Louis Simmons. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving from 1962 until 1966. Hansel Hill "Squirrel" Simmons married Margie Nell Wallace one June 6, 1980, at the Christ United Methodist Church in West Point. He was predeceded in death by wife Nell Curtis Simmons, in 1977 and two brothers, Charles H. Simmons and Sammy Simmons. He attended the Montpelier Schools. Mr. Simmons worked as an air-conditioning technician for 31 years and had served as an instructor for six years at East MS Community College. "Squirrel" was employed at the Columbus Air Force Base as Mechanical Superintendant for 17 years and had co-founded and was owner of the Everlasting Monument Company and Cemetery Services while in West Point, MS. Graveside funeral services will be held in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Friday. January 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with E. Scott Allen assisted by Dr. John Kerr. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point, MS is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his Wife, Margie Nell Wallace Simmons of Hamilton, AL; three sons, Kelly Sherman Simmons (Rachel) of Birmingham, AL, Curtis Simmons (DeAnna) of West Point, MS, James Patrick Perkins (Lorea) of Oxford, MS, one daughter, Tina Marie Perkins of Hamilton, AL; six grandchildren, Ashley Simmons Wooten (T. C.), Jacob Simmons, Kate Perkins, Anna Claire Perkins, Justin Perkins and Ryan Perkins; Two great grandchildren, Bradie Wooten and Charlie Wooten, one brother, Jasper Simmons (Pat) of West Point, MS. Visitation will be at the graveside from 9:45 a.m. until service time.
