Mr. Jackie Austin

Mr. Jackie Austin, 70, passed away on February 10, 2019 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Jackie was born March 7, 1948, in Calhoun City, the son of the late William Earl and Christine Welker Austin. He was a longtime employee of Prestage Farms, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He was also a self-employed farmer. He enjoyed training race horses. He was an United States Army Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He married Joyce Stafford on November 20, 1970, in Houston. In addition to his parents, Jackie was preceded in death by a sister: Eloise Morgan and by two brothers: Joe Edd Austin and Danny Austin. Graveside services will be Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. at Memorial Garden Cemtery in West Point with Mr. Clark Richardson officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Stafford Austin of Columbus; his son, Kenneth Roach (Teresa Lynn) of Vernon, AL; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law: Lillie Mae Stafford of West Point; one sister, Jewel Robinson of New Albany, MS, and a sister-in-law: Libby Austin of Tillatoba. Pallbearers will be Byron Wilson, Corey Davis, Christopher Roach, Jim Murray, Terry Emerson, and Ray Boeke. Honorary Pallbearers will be Employees of Prestage Farms.
